The manufacturing method of the stainless steel hollow bar

LAWAI’s stainless steel hollow bar is manufactured by centrifugal casting technique.  What is centrifugal casting?  Let me introduce it briefly. The liquid metal is poured into the round mold and the mold is rotated by very high speed.  The centrifugal force would push the liquid metal into the inner wall of the mold.  After that, the mold is cooled by water.  The cooling is from the outside to the inside mold and it causes the directional solidification.  Because of the directional solidification, the metal structure is dense and without the cavities.

How to distinguish the stainless steel hollow bar from the tube?

The appearance of stainless steel hollow bar is like tube very much.  However, the quality, strength and price between stainless steel hollow bar and tube will be much different due to different manufacturing methods.

At LAWAI, we call our centrifugally cast tube as seamless stainless steel tube.  But, it could cause misunderstanding if we only call it tube not seamless tube.  Because most people see tube as the one is produced by coils and welding construction.

In order to make everyone understand what we produce, it is better to call our centrifugally cast tube as stainless steel hollow bar.  When hearing hollow bar, most people would think of seamless one.

Most customers purchase the solid bar then drilling to hollow one.  It would waste the materials and increase the cost.  If buying the stainless steel hollow bar directly, you are able to save machining cost.

The stainless steel hollow bar manufactured by centrifugal casting is seamless and one-piece constructed.  If you have the higher demands of mechanical properties, our stainless steel hollow bar is your good choice.
