The manufacturing method of the stainless steel hollow bars
LAWAI’s stainless steel hollow bars are manufactured by centrifugal casting technique. What is centrifugal casting? Let me introduce it briefly. The liquid metal is poured into the round mold and the mold is rotated by very high speed. The centrifugal force would push the liquid metal into the inner wall of the mold. After that, the mold is cooled by water. The cooling is from the outside to the inside mold and it causes the directional solidification. Because of the directional solidification, the metal structures are dense and without the cavities.
How to distinguish the stainless steel centricast(centrifugally cast) hollow bars from the tubes?
The appearance of stainless steel hollow bars are like tubes very much. However, the quality, strength and prices between stainless steel hollow bars and tubes will be much different due to different manufacturing methods.
At LAWAI, we call our centrifugally cast tubes as seamless stainless steel tubes. But, it could cause misunderstanding if we only call them tubes not seamless tubes. Because most people regard tubes as the ones are produced by coils and welding construction.
In order to make everyone understand what we produce, it is better to call our centrifugally cast tubes as centricast hollow bars. When hearing hollow bars, most people would think of seamless ones.
