What is centrifugal casting? This may be the question you have when you are deciding which metal tubes or rings you should purchase. 

Centrifugal casting was started from 18 century and it was invented to manufacture hollow cylindrical tubes and components. Therefore, if you have the demands of the hollow symmetrically tubes, sleeves, bushings, rings, centrifugal casting will be the technique you should consider. Now you might have other questions such us “ There are other techniques to produce hollow tubes, why I should choose centrifugal casting ?” “ Is centrifugal casting really well-suited for me ?” 

For us, centrifugal casting is the luxury ( premium material) in the casting field. In the theory, centrifugally cast products are seamless and non-pores. Thus, some people call centrifugal casting that is the liquid forging. 

Centrifugal casting is through twice refinement.  When melting the raw materials, most impurities would be removed.  After that, the molten metal is poured in the mold rotated continuously at high speeds. 

During the solidification phase, the forces would be greater in the regions that are far away from the center of axis of the rotation.  The greater forces towards the rim would result in the regions of the metal casting close to the outer surface to have a higher density than that in the inner surface. The impurities would be driven to the inside surface due to most of them have the lower density than the metal itself and they are able to be machined off easily. And this is the secondary refinement.

The molten metal cools and solidifies on the mold face, it eliminates the air and gas being trapped and shrinkage defects.  Also, the directional solidification makes the fine structures of centrifugal casting. 

The pure chemical composition and fine-grained structures make the mechanical properties of centrifugal casting are much better than conventional casting. 

Furthermore, the mechanical properties of our 17-4PH(CB7Cu-1) centrifugally cast tubes are equal to forging.  This is why centrifugal casting is placed a sepcial place at customers' hearts. 

Now I know you really want to know what other reasons that customers choose centrifugal casting to replace forging?

The key reason is flexibility. 

The lower quantity order is possible and almost every material could be cast. 

Centrifugal casting is suitable for customers who do not have very high quantity demands at once, the material is special ( Higher grade of stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, high chrome steel, Ni-resist …etc) and the dimension is not the spec. size.

The tubes produced by centrifugal casting are near net shapes. It means customers do not need to machine many materials away.  So, centrifugal casting is truly a very cost-effective method to produce hollow symmetrically products. 

When you could not purchase the tubes that are equal to or close to the dimensions you need, centrifugal casting will be the priority for you.
