For components with cylindrical, tubular conical or ring-shaped, centrifugal casting is the compelling manufacturing option. During the centrifugal casting process, the liquid metal are distributed evenly by the high speed rotation and directional solidification from outer to inner diameter makes the gas porosities and impurities move to the surface of inner diameter. Those unwanted substances could be simply removed away by machining. Then, the fine-grained structure and pure tube is formed. The one-piece constructed centrifugally cast tube that performs the outstanding mechanical properties to be the material for the key components in energy industry.
What Are The Main Materials Of Centrifugal Casting For The Key Components In Energy Applications?
We have mentioned on the previous paragraph that the key components in energy industry could be under harsh environment. The higher grade stainless steel, heat-resistant alloys such as ASTM A297 HP and superalloys including 800H & 800HT are the main materials of centrifugal castings in energy sector. Common stainless steel 304 & 316 are not enough now, higher grade alloys could perform well under high stress and higher temperature that are the priority. Wrought Grade Such As Superalloy Could Be Produced By Centrifugal Casting?
800H and 800HT are the good examples.
800H and 800HT are the heat-resistant superalloy, however they are not casting grade and usually being produced by forging methods. LAWAI overcame the difficulty of atmospheric melting and fluidity in the mold. Now, we adopts centrifugal casting to produce forging specification-800H and 800HT successfully.
In Taiwan, LAWAI is the first centrifugal casting company which did the research on 800H and 800HT and made them become the valuable centrifugal casting materials.
The new wave we bring to centrifugal casting field is to break the boundary and produce the wrought grades based on centrifugal casting technique.
Supplying The Right & Convenient Centrifugally Cast Tubes & Rings For Customers Are What LAWAI Always Does
LAWAI is not like the large scale of centrifugal casting companies that are with rigid structure. Therefore, LAWAI listen to what customers really need and communication with customers again and again to supply the ideal centrifugal castings.
Several customer requested centrifugally cast tubes approximately 6 meters long with as-cast surface condition. This straightforward requirement could create additional challenges during subsequent machining including machining time increase and higher machining costs.
Instead of the original request, we proposed better solution: Shorter tubes with the pre-machined surfaces of inner and outer diameters. Also, leaving with appropriate machining allowance for customers’ final machining.
The small changes of the material form could truly make a difference. Customers reduce machining efforts, gain more convenient handling and more practical material utilization.
